TANZANIA
+ Amboseli NP

south of the equator
, the Indian Ocean from Tanzania. Marked by the colonization by Europeans, but also carries influences from the Islamic world, particularly on the coast and the offshore islands, especially the nature of a great attraction. Endless wide savannas in the national parks, snow-capped summit of Kilimanjaro and the South Seas flair on the coast.
When combined with the Kilimanjaro, it's worth the Amboseli National Park in Kenya near the border, to visit.

The size of the country, but also the sometimes adventurous infrastructure necessary to make a planning in advance, although some can be spontaneously organized. Accommodation should be booked, especially in Zanzibar a few days before arrival.

Amboseli National Park
In the Shadow of Kilimanjaro

Amboseli NP actually lies in Kenya, but offers beautiful views of Mount Kilimanjaro, which is why a combination is obvious with its ascent. Is best served in the National Park of Nairobi (about 5 hours by car).

In contrast to other national parks of Amboseli National Park is visited less frequently, although even here a lot of wildlife can be observed. Especially the big elephant herds are a feature, with the Kilimanjaro background they give off a nice classic photo opportunity. Ub erhaupt impresses while driving through the park, the vast northwest flank of the mountain, whose summit is enthroned in clear weather, well above the 5000 level. In addition, let giraffes, gazelles, hyenas, buffalo, ostriches and other birds. With luck, one also meets one or the other lions. Although it can be very cold, you should never give up on a game drive in the morning as to wake up this time of day most of the animals to life as they spend the hot afternoon hours rather in the bushes.

Note Out of respect for the animal and plant life on account of which one is indeed come, you should talk about in any case the driver to leave the prescribed routes and paths. Also wait for overstepping the ban, hefty fines.

Kilimanjaro
From rain forest in the ice
Many are the ones who at some point to Uhuru Peak (5895m), the summit of Kilimanjaro want to be. Some of the collection of the Seven Summits, some who decide to spontaneously during a safari holiday to take the highest point in Africa, some because they spell this mountain for a lifetime and has never let go.
What certainly impressive for the contrast between the savannah country with the large numbers of wild animals ( Amboseli NP ) around the mountain, the rain forest belt, which surrounds the lower slopes and not least the (probably not all) of permanent ice in the highest regions of the mountain.

An ascent on the Marangu route, the normal route requires, apart v
on sufficient fitness and acclimatization no special mountaineering skills. However, the scenic Machame route, which can also be done without technical equipment, however, requires at some points slip resistance.
Unlike the normal route must sleep in tents.
On this route it is six days on the road, with a stop at the Lava Tower (4630m) for adjustment to the height promotes.

Although many come with a Tanzanian tour at least once in Dar, pays a visit is not really. The city is noisy, dirty and offers, despite its location on the sea is not really something worth seeing.

However, Dar es Salaam has an international airport and the ferry to Zanzibar and buses and trains to all parts of the country start from here.

Whether you by plane or ferry arrive, the view of Stone Town, surrounded by turquoise sea, is fascinating. Set against the African east coast, is the capital of Zanzibar Stone Town and in particular a melting pot of cultures.

Those who prefer to relax on the beach of the strains of a Kilimanjaro climb is on the east coast beaches such as in Jambiani in good hands. Local fishermen take a little money with for a dhow trip to the reef. If you want, for less money with local fishermen on their dhow's sail to the reef and there schnorchlend explore the underwater world. If one port at low tide, Seeschlösschen one in the middle of the seaweed plantations, which are created there mostly by women and gave them a little independence.

Diving in Zanzibar

If you feel more comfortable under water, you go to the northeast of the island to Matemwe and dives on the reef of the small island of Mnemba. Besides the usual reef and canned fish, sea vegetables and other marine life has a good chance, turtles and dolphins at once rugged abf
